WEEKEND PREVIEW: SANG CHOI BAO CHASES THE BIG BUCKS

May 20, 2016

The stable warmed up for a big weekend with AWAKENINGS winning at Geelong today. Formerly trained by Ciaron Maher, he was having his first start for JWR and won in gritty style for owner Laurence Eales.

It's not too often that the stable saddles up horses at the Gold Coast and Doomben on a Saturday afternoon but that's what lies ahead tomorrow. On top of that, we have SANG CHOI BAO running in the lucky last in Adelaide so it promises to be an exciting day for the stable.

SANG CHOI CHASES THE BIG BUCKS

SANG CHOI BAO has always threatened to win a good race. With a $100k up for grabs tomorrow in the last race at Adelaide, what better time to do it!

You don't find too many BM75 races worth $100k so it was too tempting not to take up the challenge. He has drawn the car park which might end up being a blessing. We had a good chat to Damian Lane and he thinks he can win if the track is favouring the swoopers. Hopefully by Race 8, the rail is chopped up and SANG CHOI can get the bucks.

BACKSTREET LOVER READY TO STAND UP

BACKSTREET LOVER takes her place in tomorrow's Group 2 Roses (2000m) at Doomben as she looks to find her best form.

"Nothing has gone right for this filly over the last month. She pulled up lame after her Caulfield run and missed some work as a result which just put her behind schedule. She looked a little disappointing at the Sunshine Coast but she just ran out of puff and got on the wrong leg. She has improved since then and she will strip a lot fitter tomorrow. Thankfully, she has drawn an inside gate so we'll ride her quietly and give her every chance to run out the 2000m".

ZASORCERESS HEADS TO THE COAST

Blueblooded filly ZASORCERESS might be the best maiden filly in Australia but hopefully for not too much longer! She is Group 3 placed and gets her chance to break her maiden at the Gold Coast tomorrow.

"She has freshened up nicely since the Sydney Carnival and is thriving in the Queensland sun. We have booked Daniel Griffin for the ride. They call him the "King of the Coast" so hopefully he lives up to his name and gets her over the line".

BEEN SCENE SHOOTS FOR TWO STRAIGHT

BEEN SCENE won at Moe on Anzac Day and heads to Cranbourne tonight looking for another win. She has improved since Moe and should run really well tonight with the only negative being barrier 9 in a field of 10. She will need luck and a gem of a ride from Ben Melham!
