JWR AND GERRY HARVEY COMBINE FOR WIN
Aug 01, 2016
After 8 starts, some punters were starting to think whether PALAZZO PITTI would ever notch a win.
She had been in the money on 7 occasions but that breakthrough win was proving elusive for the daughter of More Than Ready. That was about to change at Moe on 24 July.
Sent out a warm favourite, Adam McCabe bounced straight to the lead and never looked back going on to win the race by over 2 lengths.
"She really deserved todays win. The key was getting her onto a wet track and letting her slide along in front. She doesn't have a big turn of foot but she has a good cruising speed and is much better suited stringing them out in front as she did today" said Warren.
"She is no star but we might be able to pick up another race before she heads to stud in September. She has been in work since November and she has done a remarkable job to still be going 8 months later with only a short freshen up.
"She spends plenty of time in the day paddock and over at the water walker which suits these lighter framed fillies".
The win was JWR's first ever win for one of Australia's most biggest owner and breeders, Gerry Harvey. "Gerry has started sending me a few horses to train which has provided me with a great opportunity". This is the second horse I have trained for him so it was very nice to get a win. Hopefully there are more to come" smiled Warren.
