MACQUARIE ENDS PREPARATION ON A HIGH
Aug 31, 2016
Fantastic to see MACQUARIE MAGIC return to the winners circle with a nice win at Wodonga during the week.
'Macca' was a $40k buy at the 2013 Magic Millions Sale and notched up his third win for his owners Noel and Sue McFarlane from Newcastle. The win takes his earnings to over $70k.
Macquarie will have a well earned rest after a big 7 months on the track. He kicked off in February and has gone all the way through to August which included 8 runs. He won two races and earned over $40k in prizemoney for the preparation which is a great effort for a horse rated around that BM64 level.
"We have spaced his runs. He doesn't have the strongest constitution and he can be a bit of picky eater so we just have to wrap him in the cotton wool and space his runs" explained Jason Warren.
"He was really on his toes before the race and he always seems to run best when he is fresh and keen".
"Macquarie Magic is first horse which Noel and Sue have ever raced. It has been a real learning curve for them and they have come to understand the ups and downs and unpredictable nature of racing. It's a tough caper being an owner but the wins make it all worthwhile" smiled Jason.
