Hallelujah ,praise the lord, the Preacher is a winner

A poignant day for a horse named Dixie Preacher to break it's maiden. The greatest Dixie preacher of them all Billy Graham passed away on Wednesday at the grand age of 99,some evidence maybe that he was pretty close to the good lord. Our Dixie has been quietly progressing with every run and he went to Warrnambool with the stable confident for success.Under a strong and positive ride by Ben Thompson he raced on the pace and was in front a long way from home.He was determined over the closing stages to beat a deep field of maidens and nothing was taking ground from him on the line. Not to many of the sires progeny racing in Australia and he looks a horse that will improve further once he gets over more ground.Great little gear change by the boss with the addition of a near side blinker and he ran as a straight as a gun barrel throughout the event. Many congratulations to his owner Brian Toohey and I strongly suspect this won't be the last article we write about this horse.

A great early evening for the team was completed by American Storm who ran a gallant second. He is a horse that once he gets the maiden out of the way has the scope to go on and progress through his grades.

The team heads to the Valley tonight and exciting to see the two smart fillies Tarcoola Spirit and Karadashing resuming in the Typhoon Tracy. Both are trading at bolters odds as is our other run Savaland but all are capable of running cheeky races and no better place to be on a Friday night than the Valley.
