A special winner on the most emotional of days.
Apr 26, 2018
Always been an ambition for the stable to land a winner in the Anzac Day silks . There were tears shed on track when Blaze Ahead was announced the winner, the margin being a single pixel. Injury had kept him away from the track for close on 18 months, only the patience of Jason and the owners made this result possible. He is an outstanding testament to the skill and care of all the staff at home and to quality of our facilities .
A great ride by Clayton Douglas got the job done with the horse as tough as a pair of old army boots over the closing stages. Such a delight for us to have the owners on track to celebrate the win and an Anzac Day winner in the silks is very special.
As horse people it's a day where we also recognise the sacrifice made by our equine friends .Their contribution made to our freedom has to be remembered. The stats are staggering , 130,000 Australian horses were shipped overseas during WW1, by the end of the conflict only 12,000 survived. Due to quarantine and budget restrictions none of those horses returned. Naturally this doesn't compare with the loss of human life. However for us who love and nurture these wonderful animals on a daily basis Anzac Day gives us the chance to honour them.
Stable is ticking over very nicely thank you. The team are buzzing and just a great atmosphere around the stables. Happy stables = Happy horses and we are thrilled with how the horses are presenting race day.
