Miss Toorak Flyer shows her class
May 21, 2018
A challenging week with this filly ended in perfect style at Bendigo . She ran at Sale last Tuesday where she couldn't get a crack and went to the line untested. As the team loaded her back onto the float we made plans to back her up on the Sunday . Tough call for the trainer to make , last two runs had left all frustrated and backing up was a real risk to deliver more disappointment.
The overriding factor in the decision was the unswerving faith the trainer has in this horses ability. We assessed her, the final field and were confident she would run competitively . Next curve ball was delivered with a late jockey change and Jake Noonan had around ten minutes to familiarise himself with the filly's form. Chuck in a track upgrade and to be brutally honest I feared the worse come jump time.
Form is temporary , luck can't be controlled but class is permanent .This horse has a touch of class and when she quickened down in the home straight she was mighty impressive. She was four wide with only two behind her at the 400m and won a shade cosily. She is city class and we will have a lot of fun with her through the final months of her three year old career. I'm thinking of asking part owners Rosemont if we can run all our horses in the gatecrasher silks , frankly they are smashing it at present and they deserve all the success they get . They are true supporters of both the breeding and racing industry and are a pleasure to train for. The sire of this winner in Toorak Toff is consistently getting winners and just might be on the verge of getting a very smart horse in Iconoclasm . Our filly will do her part to keep the flag flying.
Just a lazy first prize cheque of $36,000 with the Vobis bonuses . That's the beauty of buying Victorian , not far short of city prize money for a Sunday race. Stable racked up $100,000 in winnings over the last nine days , no mean feat with a small boutique team. We are loving our racing at present , horses are presented in the best of order and we are placing them in the right races.
