JWR WEEKEND PREVIEW

Jun 19, 2015

SANG CHOI BAO ON THE QUICK BACK-UP

Luck has not followed Sang Choi Bao this preparation. After a poor ride two starts ago, he found himself on the wrong side of the track at Flemington last Saturday. When the field split in two, Froggy Newitt had the choice to go either way. It was a split second decision. As Froggy said "I should have zigged when I zagged". He choose to follow the outside division which was a costly move. The outside division got left behind and Sang Choi Bao was never in the hunt despite retuning the best final sectionals of the outside brigade.

He backs up tomorrow at Moonee Valley. If the track is suiting the swoopers, then he comes right into calculations. There looks to be hot speed so look for SCB to be storming home late.

CRANBOURNE SUNDAY

LOOT N RUN has been a fantastic horse for the stable over a long period of time and I am hoping that he has another couple of good seasons left in him. His first up run was out of character but I am expecting a big turnaround this weekend in the Winter Championship Heat. The blinkers go on so they will need to be good to catch him in the short straight!

ENJOY THE SILENCE was far from disgraced in a metro race last start and drops back in grade on Sunday. He is rock hard fit and should be very competitive in a wide open race.

It is an anxious wait for the owners of SISTER CLOSE (pictured below) who is first emergency in the $100k Vobis Gold Race. The sister to Danger Close has shown plenty of promise and has been set for this race for the last 2 months. She is still learning her craft and is 6 months away from really putting it all together but she has good ability and should make her presence felt if she gains a start.

IMPRESSIVE TRIALS FROM JWR'S JUVENILES

We saw some impressive trial performances from some of JWR's 2yo's at Wednesday's jumpouts. Magic Albert filly AIRLIE MAGIC showed a clean pair of heels winning her jumpout in good style. She makes her debut at Pakenham next Thursday and will go head to head with Mossman fillyPARALLEL LINES (pictured below) who sat back and finished off strongly to run second her heat. The big improver of the morning was Not a Single Doubt gelding SWIPEAWAY who looked a different horse winning his trial with the blinkers on for the first time.
