JWR WEEKEND PREVIEW: ONWARDS AND UPWARDS

May 09, 2015

It's fair to say that a its been a tough week in the life of Jason Warren Racing! But as they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I am certainly looking forward and getting on with the job of training winners.

From my end, it has been very frustrating and disappointing reading the articles in the newspapers which have been far from accurate in the way they have portayed my involvement in the whole Baron Archer investigation. I have played absolutely no part in any betting activity on the horse and any suggestions to the contrary are completely false.

Chief Steward Terry Bailey could not have been any clearer as to my involvement when he stated on radio that the stewards only concern with me relates to my non-disclosure of Baron Archer's surgery which is not linked to the betting on the race. Unfortunately, the media seems to have brushed over Terry's comments!

Anyway, onto our runners for the weekend. We only have two going around with DANGER CLOSE and ROCK SPUR flying the flag and wouldn't it be great to land a winner!

ROCK SPUR LOOKING FOR CHANGE OF LUCK

Rock Spur hasn't had much luck this preparation but that could be about to change! After receiving two horror draws at Sandown, he finally drew a good alley at Flemington last start, or so we thought! As it turned out, the inside was completely off and Rocky had no chance with the winner coming down the outside rail. In the circumstances, his run was huge and he is primed for another big showing tomorrow with young gun Micky Dee on board.

DANGER HEADS TO ADELAIDE

Danger Close was entered for Flemington and Adelaide but the decision has been made to send him across the boarder for what looks an easier assignment. He was going to be a 40-1 chance at Flemington and probably out of his depth so it was a pretty easy decision in the end. I am hoping a trip away will sharpen him up and we see the old Danger Close storming down the outside! We have been lucky enough to secure Damien Oliver who will ride Danger for the first time. We have really struggled to find a good replacement for Froggy Newitt who had a really good bond with Danger..let's hope Ollie can fill the void!
