JWR WEEKEND PREVIEW

Feb 20, 2015

Plenty of excitement around the stables today with a big weekend of racing ahead of us. We have Zululand racing in the $2.9 million Singapore Cup on Sunday night and a good team of local hopes competing across the weekend.

SISTER CLOSE DEBUTS AT THE VALLEY

After two impressive trial wins, SISTER CLOSE goes to the Valley tonight with a good wrap on her. Named after her older brother Danger Close, she has inherited his looks and racetrack ability! We are expecting a nice run tonight but she is no good thing! She is still very raw and green and will improve on whatever she does tonight.

STRYKING LOVE resumes from a spell in the same race. She debuted with a good third back in the Spring and is being aimed at the Adelaide Magic Millions Race in early March. A solid run tonight will be a good warm up for Adelaide.

SINGLE DAYS READY TO EXPLODE

PARALLEL LINES lines up in the Listed Talindert Stakes at Flemington on Saturday. She was more than acceptable on debut at the Valley and has improved since that run. She faces a hot field tomorrow but the step out to 1100m will help and she is a sneaky place chance.

SINGLE DAYS (pictured)didn't disgrace himself at Sandown 2 weeks ago when storming home from last to finish 3rd. He jumps up in grade again tomorrow and we are under no illusions about the task in front of him. However, he is untapped and deserves a crack at these better horses. Melham back on and he should enjoy the straight track. Don't dismiss him!

MOE SUNDAY

VOLONTIERS and TILLACONI head to Moe on Sunday with Volontiers looking as our best chance. He lines up in a fairly weak maiden and should be hard to beat. Tillaconi is up in grade and will be better second up. He does love the Moe track and is a place chance.

BEAU MERTERNS' FIRST RIDE FOR JWR

Beau Mertens is a young apprentice going places. Apprenticed to Mick Kent and the son of former jockey Peter Mertens, he has all the right attributes to be a star jockey. He is riding winner after winner in the bush and partners THREE POINTS on Sunday. Three Points trialled strongly at Cranbourne and should run a forward race on Sunday. He will be even better once he gets out to 1400m and 1600m later in the prep.

MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES ARRIVE

Our lovely Savabeel and Snitzel yearling fillies arrived last week after spending a few weeks sun baking in sunny Queensland. Both are stunning fillies and look outstanding prospects for the future. We will be releasing a video on each filly next week so stay tuned. Shares are still available so don't miss out on your chance to share in the fun of racing a horse with JWR.
