JWR WEEKEND PREVIEW

Jan 23, 2015

The main action for the weekend is at the Valley tomorrow with SWISS ROCK and LONGCHAMP BELLE going around at good odds.

LONGCHAMP BELLE needed the run first up and strips much fitter going into tomorrow's race. She will be up on the speed making her own luck and grows a leg second up so she isn't the worst chance in a tricky race! If she runs well tomorrow, she might head over to Tassie for a crack at the Group 3 Bow Mistress Stakes.

SWISS ROCK (pictured below) is coming off a confidence boosting win at Mornington. Whilst he steps up sharply in grade, he is a progressive horse who is just starting to put it all together so I expect him to run a good race at big odds.

NEW ACQUISITION FOR STABLE

Former New Zealand galloper BLACK STARDOM will run in the JWR colours for the first time tomorrow at Yarra Valley. We have only had him for a couple of weeks but he is a big strong lad who hasn't missed a beat since arriving at our stables. The boys at the Dromana Hotel race him so it will be their shout if he salutes tomorrow.

GERMAN IMPORT ON ROUTE

Our new German import ALLANO (pictured) is currently in the air bound for Botany Bay. He arrives in Sydney tomorrow to start his 3 week quarantine period before arriving at Denistoun Park in early February which should be very exciting.

CHINA HORSE CLUB TEAM UP WITH JWR

It's a big thrill to be training a horse for the China Horse Club who are fast becoming one of the most influential owners in the world. The China Horse Club have given us Group 2 winning colt ZULULAND (pictured below) who is being aimed at a big race in Singapore in late February. Stayed tuned for more details on this.

JWR OFF TO NEW ZEALAND

JWR will be on the ground at next week's New Zealand Karaka Yearling Sale looking for the future champions. The sale has produced some amazing group 1 winners over the years including Lucia Valentina, Preferment, Sacred Falls, Linton, Ocean Park, Shamexpress, King Mufhasa, So You Think and Savabeel just to name a few!

MAGIC MILLIONS FILLIES ARRIVE NEXT WEEK

Very excited with the imminent arrival of our lovely fillies from the Magic Millions Sale. They arrive at Denistoun Park next week after having a couple of weeks of R&R in Queensland.

The Women's in Racing Sydnicate is fast filling up with the Snitzel filly proving a big hit amongst the girls.

We had planned on buying a Savabeel filly in New Zealand but that wont be necessary after falling in love with the only Savabeel filly on the Gold Coast. She is an absolute beauty and we really did steal her for only $110,000. Her breeder Eric Butler (from Rangal Park) expected her to make $200k and was lamenting the decision to sell her at the Gold Coast where the buyers weren't interested in the staying fillies!

We also purchased a Testa Rossa filly for $45,000 who looks a real likely type. Photos of this filly will be on the website shortly.
