3yo Von Costa De Hero gelding BARON MANFRED has been knocking on the door for a win after two encouraging runs this preparation. Sunday's race at Kilmore looked a two horse affair on paper with Baron Manfred a solid second favourite behind Peter Moody's Shamardal filly. And that's exactly how it panned out with Moody's filly and Baron Manfred drawing clear over the final 100m to fight out the finish.

It's never easy running down one of Moody's horses but Baron Manfred dug deep, drew alongside the favourite and nailed her on the line. It was a terrific win and a great result for Baron's owners who were over the moon with the win.

He showed good ability as a young 2yo but didn't really put it all together in his first preparation. We gelded him during the spell which has completely changed him. His attitude is significantly better and he really wants to be a racehorse now.

Congratulations to his owners Rob Henry, Chris Daly, Gerard McMahon, Paul Cranage and Rupert Harrington.
