Saturday's scintillating win by Puritan in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes will go down in the history of JWR as one of the most thrilling and celebrated wins of all time.

Racing is all about the journey and for Puritan's owners, they have had a roller coaster journey in a short time. His career hung by a thread in the early days and he was no good thing to even make it to the track with a number of thwarted attempts to gain a barrier certificate. To win a Group 3 race at his fourth start was a very surreal moment for his owners. The celebrations in the mounting yard were wild and they continued well into the night at the Everson Hotel in Prahran. It was a day that those owners will never forget!

As a trainer, it was one of the most satisfying days of my trainer career. I am usually pretty calm and collected watching the race but I lost it on Saturday. I watched the race from the trainers room below the grandstand and I didn't stop screaming from the top of the straight to the winning post.

Puritan will now head to the Group 3 Zeditive Stakes in 3 weeks. No decisions have been made beyond the Zeditive but he has been nominated for the Newmarket and the big races at The Championships in Sydney. The journey continues...
