WEEKEND PREVIEW: PURITAN PRIMED AND READY

Feb 25, 2016

It is going to be an exciting few days for the stable with some of the stables best youngsters stepping out.

PURITAN is the headline act shooting for two straight in the Group 3 Zeditive Stakes at Caulfield on Saturday. The son of Beneteau has been kept nice and fresh for Saturday's assignment and his track work on Tuesday morning was sensational.

He has opened up at $7.50 which is generous odds for a horse coming off a brilliant first up win at the same track and distance. They have backed BASSETT, MOGADOR, BROCKOFF, POPOVICH and SANTA ANN LANE to beat him but I wouldn't be swapping my horse for anything. He wasn't fully wound up first up and I think he will go even better on Saturday. They will need to be good to beat him!

ZASORCERESS READY TO DELIVER ON PROMISE

I have had a big opinion of New Zealand filly ZASORCERESS for some time and I think she is just about ready to go bang.

These staying fillies can take a few races before everything clicks but I am expecting her to put it all together at Pakenham today at her 4th career start. The big track and the step up to 1600m will be perfect for her wind up style. She was excellent first up and hasn't gone backwards so I will be disappointed if she goes under.

If she wins today, she will head to Sydney for a crack at the best staying fillies in Australia. We have pencilled in the Vinery Stakes on Golden Slipper Day and the AJC Oaks as her main targets but she needs to win today to justify the trip north.

THUNDER TEDDINGTON ARRIVES

It's never easy buying European horses sight unseen. I placed much faith and trust in our European bloodstock agent and I analysed countless photos and videos to make sure that he was the horse for us. But there is no substitute for seeing them in the raw flesh and getting a real feel for their size and physique.

It was a tense moment as the Goldners truck rolled in the front gates of Denistoun Park with "Teddy" on board. There was a collective sigh of relief as he disembarked the truck. He was big and strong with great bone for a European horse. He walked off with a huge athletic swagger and we knew we had bought a "nice" one.

Teddy spent the first week in the paddock acclimatising and is now going through his early paces on the track and impressing everyone with his beautiful stride and movement.

The plan will be to have him racing towards at the start of August and into the spring carnival. With an Australian rating of 85, he will be entered for the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups and given his chance to qualify in the early part of the spring.

We have 15% left in the horse so please call Julian (0427 662 977) if you would like to secure a slice of Teddy.

STREET CRY FILLIES ON FIRE

Is there a better stallion in Australia than the late Street Cry? His star mare WINX (pictured) returned from her emphatic Cox Plate victory with an slashing first up win in the G2 Apollo Stakes two weeks ago in Sydney. It was a Street Cry quinella with SOLICIT running a game second taking her earnings to over $1 million.

Street Cry should post another Group win on Saturday with his G1 winning filly STAY WITH ME (pictured below) lining up as a hot favourite in the G2 Surround stakes.

We only have a few shares left in our stunning Street Cry filly (pictured) which was purchased for $120k at this years Magic Millions Sale. She has killer looks and an attitude to match and is probably the best valued filly that we have bought this year so don't miss out.
